Free Webinar Organized by the Biotechnology Committee for AIPLA Members–Listen to recording

The AIPLA Biotechnology Committee will present a free webinar on Thursday March 29 from 12:30-1:45 pm EST entitled “Developments in Patenting Biotechnology Around the Globe: Canada, Europe and Japan.”  These presentations will be a reprise of the Mid-Winter Institute presentations by John Allen of NatahDutilh in Belgium on industrial applicability, Daphne Lainson of Smart&Biggar/Fetherstonaugh in Canada on biosimilars, and Ayako Kobayashi of TMI Associates in Japan on stem cell technology and antibodies.   Because of time zone differences, Ayako’s presentation has been pre-recorded, but she will answer questions by email.

There will be no CLE.

Free Webinar Organized by AIPLA Chemical Practice Committee April 3 for AIPLA Members–Listen to recording

The Chemical Practice Committee will present a free webinar on April 3 from 12:00-1:00 pm EST entitled “Restriction of Markush Claims: Theory and Reality.” 

Restriction requirements are expressly prohibited within a Markush claim.  Yet, the USPTO keeps issuing them.  During this webinar, Bob Titus (Eli Lilly) and Brian Lathrop (Drinker Biddle) will discuss the problems related to Markush claims and the strategies for dealing with them.
